1.1 Participation

The final of the third Certamen Internacional de Danza de Ciutat de Barcelona (International dance contest) will take place in Barcelona starting on may 24th 2012.

Any student from any nationality aged between 12 and 22 years old (during the year of the contest; from January 1st until December, 31th in 2012) will be allowed to participate to the contest.

The participants will be gathered into groups according to different specialities:

  • Classic
  • Contemporary
  • Spanish
  • Flamenco

They are allowed to perform alone, with a duo or a group.

Dancers who are working within professional companies won’t be allowed to participate.

1.2 Inscriptions

To apply for the contest, the following documents need to be completed :

  • Application form according to the dance style. In case of a group application, one application form for every member of the group needed.
  • Copy of passport / ID
  • Copy of accomplished bank transfer according to the corresponding cost with the name and surname of the participant.
  • Two passport / ID sized photographs and one photograph in a dance pose
  • Authorisation of the legal representative for minors with a copy of the passport / ID
  • CD with the music recorded of the choreography (high quality)
  • DVD with the choreography or variation
  • Short curriculum vitae
  • The inscription price is 78 euros for the participant of any specialty. This amount won’t be reimbursed under any condition. The price for groups is 40 euros for 3 to 6 participants per group and 30 euros for groups of 6 to 12 participants.

Applying for the contest implies accepting all coherent terms and conditions.

The deadline for the application form and payment is in April 1st, 2012. You can keep sending CD or DVD until April, the 20th. ( the valid date would be the one of the postmark).

The participants need to send a recorded audiovisual DVD with their choreographies, all recorded on front and on a general plan so that we can correctly watch the choreographies.

The DVD needs to be sent with the name of the participant, the title of the variation, part or dance. The speciality you will be performing needs to be specified too. 

Participants who pass the semifinal May 26, 2012 will be notified by e-mail with this information.

The teachers willing to go with their students won’t have to pay any kind of fee but must register themselves by filling out the application form indicating the number of students they are going with. It is possible to pay only one fee per school with all the students who will perform.

1.3 CD and DVD for variations presentation

They need to be identified with the name and surname of the participant, the name of the variation, the author of the music and choreography on the CD cover. Every variation has to be just one track.

Every participant is in charge of author’s copyright payment.

The choreographies which will be presented during the Certamen have to be the same as in the DVD showed during the first phase of the contest. not to obey to those conditions can lead to disqualification.     

Groups, in any discipline, will be counted as one participant. The selected participants will be allowed to participate to the semi final which will take place on Saturday and after the acts, the jury will decide who will pass perform in the final on Sunday.

The semi final selection will be communicated via e-mail and the participation will have to be confirmed by mail.

1.4 Accreditation

The gathering of the accreditation material will be accomplished on may, 24th , 2012.

All the applicants have to accredit themselves to get access to the dressing room, the stage and orchestra.

Accreditation has to be in a visible place except during the act and it has to be shown to every person from the organization who asks for it.

On Friday classes will be given with several maestros, from different cities around the world via videoconference so that the jury can get to know every participant.

1.5 Organization responsibility

The people who organize won’t be responsible for any damage that might happen during the competition (the participants have the obligation to come to the Certamen having insurance). However, the organization will allow a personal physiotherapist to be at your disposal.

They won’t be responsible for possible robbery either which might happen during the contest.

1.6 Certamen Venue

The audition will take place in Barcelona, Arteria Theater of SGAE.

During the contest there will be general light from the spotlights and on the back of the stage a black cyclorama.

1.7 Trip expenses and maintenance

The participants are in charge of the trip expenses to Barcelona and the stay in the city.

The organization will give information to those interested about different hotels especially for the participants and people who are going with them.

1.8 Photographs and filming

Photos and videos recorded during the contest can only be made by the staff and will be their exclusive property regarding its reproduction and distribution. These recordings can be used for commercial or promotional aims, included the publicity in the benefit of a third person, and no matter what were the products announced. The participants assign those rights to the organization in a permanent and irrevocable way, without limit in time or place.

People who are not part of the organization, are not allowed to film or take pictures during the acts, in order not to distract the dancers on stage and avoid possible accidents.
